The following postsecondary institutions have met requirements for licensure or registration by the Office of Higher Education. Institutions offering educational programs in Minnesota generally must be either licensed or registered if they are:
- Private non-profit colleges, universities, and training programs
- For-profit career schools and training programs
- Public institutions from other states
Only registered and licensed institutions are shown below. This list does not include Minnesota schools and colleges that are not regulated by the Office of Higher Education, such as:
- Seminaries and other religious institutions
- Public institutions (University of Minnesota, and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities)
- Other educational programs exempted by the Private Institution Registration and Private Career School Licensure statutes
Registration and licensure are not the same as accreditation. Many, but not all, institutions regulated by the Office of Higher Education also are accredited by national or regional accrediting bodies.
Registration and licensure do not assure that credits earned can be transferred to other institutions or that the quality of education would meet the standards of every student, educational institution or employer.
